Culture of today is still linked keenly to geography. While many countries are succumbing to Westernization, the very name of this cultural movement shows culture's geographic roots. Until the day that all of mankind views themselves as being of a single unified land known as Earth, it should be safe to assume that geography will be present concerning cultural matters.
The development of science and technology has benefited the military's of the world greatly. It is now easier than ever to kill mass amounts of people in a short time with the pull of a trigger or the push of a button. On the flip side, it is also easier than at any point in the past to heal and save a person's life who has been injured during military actions.
Social roles of the era are more equal than ever before. Westernization works on a basis of all peoples being equal so as a result many people are on nearly equal footing across the world. Racism is still prevalent in many countries and the world is still largely controlled by white men, but the gaps are slowly closing. One just has to look at the leaders of the U.S. and Germany to see this is evident.
Religion is facing an attack the likes of which it has never quite experienced before. With new science constantly emerging, the very basic elements of many world faiths are being questioned. Also, the development of certain technologies is viewed as vile and unethical by several religious groups.
One could argue that technology is the new religion of this modern era. Just about everyone uses technology, and many people rely heavily on it. In fact, many a person, especially in developed nations, would be utterly lost without the ever present technology that they own and operate. As better and better tech emerges, the Earth's people will continually lean on it more and more.
